Paving contractor in Bradford County, PA

Bradford County, PA sits directly south of the New York state line, sharing a border with Chemung and Tioga counties in New York. The county runs along the Susquehanna River, with Towanda as the county seat and Sayre as the largest borough, located right on the New York border adjacent to Waverly, NY. The terrain is a mix of river valley flatlands near Towanda and Athens and steeper, more rural hillside properties as you move away from the Susquehanna corridor. Bradford County has a humid continental climate with cold winters and average January temperatures around 24 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning freeze-thaw cycles are a consistent factor for any paved surface. The county's rural character means many properties have long driveways and private access roads that have never been paved or were paved with minimal base preparation.

Cross-Border Paving for Bradford County's Rural Properties

Bradford County, PA is the second-largest county in Pennsylvania by land area, covering over 1,100 square miles of mostly rural terrain. A large share of properties here have long driveways or private access roads that connect to state routes across significant distances. We bring the equipment and crew capacity to handle these larger rural paving projects, including the stone and grading work that comes before asphalt is placed.

Sayre and Athens sit on the New York border along the Susquehanna River, and these communities have commercial and residential paving needs similar to the New York communities directly across the line. Parking lot paving and driveway paving in this corridor are a natural extension of our work in Chemung and Tioga counties in New York. We serve both sides of the state line without treating the Pennsylvania work as secondary.

Bradford County's humid continental climate means winters are cold and freeze-thaw cycles are a real factor for asphalt. The average January temperature in Towanda is around 24 degrees Fahrenheit, which means the ground freezes hard and thaws repeatedly through late winter and early spring. Asphalt built on a properly compacted stone base with adequate depth handles these cycles far better than surfaces laid without proper preparation.

Tom stopped by my house on Monday afternoon, talked to me about paving my driveway. I was interested so he measured it out and gave me a price. I agreed to have it done. Within the hour his crew was here starting the process. He and his foreman layed the whole job out for me, answered questions i had and got on with it. They got the driveway prepped and ready to go for Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning they showed up, did some final prep work, the truck got back from the ashphalt plant and they began paving. it took less time than i anticipated, the crew didn't rush or take any shortcuts, when they were done, they cleaned my yard and the street. i am very happy with the outcome! they did an excellent job for what i considered a fair price. Great owner(Tom) with a great bunch of guys working for him. i would recommend them.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Tom and his team at Pavecorp construction, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. From start to finish, the experience was professional, efficient, and of the highest quality.

I rarely if ever write reviews, but I am compelled to do it for this company. We live in an era where so few people live above the level of mediocrity… I just wanna say I am so impressed with PaveCorp Construction…. I had rather a complicated job to pave a 1500 foot driveway in the mountains of Pennsylvania…down hill …rutted…washed out…. The owner, Tom gave me an absolutely fabulously fair price on a job that was categorically a lot of work…. No question I had was an imposition….And he instilled confidence with his very knowledgeable answers…. His team of employees were just off the charts fabulous…. And I enjoyed getting to know them…. To say that all of them are meticulous does not do their workmanship justice…. These young men take pride in their work… It is obvious that they are not just out to make a buck, but out to make a statement in the way they do their work… Having worked in the construction trade in a former life, I can tell you…. make absolutely sure that you get an estimate from Pave Corp…. To say that you will get a Superior job is putting it mildly !!!

Paving Contractor FAQ for Bradford County, PA

Common questions from Bradford County, PA customers about our services, process, and coverage.

Yes, rural residential and private road paving in Bradford County is a regular part of our work. Properties across the county often have long unpaved access lanes that need stone and grading before asphalt can be placed. We handle the full project from base preparation through finished paving.

Yes, commercial paving and parking lot striping for businesses in Towanda, Sayre, and Athens are services we provide in Bradford County. We assess the existing surface condition and recommend the right approach — whether that is a full new surface, milling and repaving, or sealcoating and restriping an existing lot.

Bradford County's cold winters, with average January temperatures around 24 degrees Fahrenheit, create repeated freeze-thaw cycles that stress asphalt surfaces. Water that enters surface cracks freezes and expands, widening the crack and eventually reaching the base. Sealcoating after paving closes the surface and slows this process significantly.

Stone and grading is needed whenever the existing surface is bare ground, deteriorated gravel, or has soft spots that indicate base failure. On Bradford County's hillside properties away from the river valley, proper grading to establish drainage pitch is especially important. We evaluate the site before recommending whether grading is needed or whether the existing base can support new asphalt.
